The Light
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119104
My dad always says that God doesn’t put the light on your head so you can see way out into the future, He puts it at your feet so you can see the next step. While doing a walk recounting Jesus’ journey to Calvary, I was with a large group of women. The walk began at dusk and continued as the light around us faded and slowly vanished.
The leaders had given each of us a battery-operated candle. A single light. I hadn’t used mine most of the trip—preferring to walk the pseudo-journey up the Via Dolorosa in the dimming light as the world shut itself off around me.
Then as we rounded the curve after Jesus was crucified and on the way to see Him laid in the tomb, I realized that the older lady next to me was holding her candle closer to the walkway in an apparent attempt to see so she would not stumble. Immediately I took my candle out of my pocket and turned it on to help.
Unfortunately those candles were made to inspire the soul—not to light darkened walkways. My mind immediately said, “Gee, Stace, fat lotta good your puny little candle did.” At that moment from directly behind me, someone turned on a mega-watt flashlight, and the whole walk was clearly visible.
In that instant, I got it. I don’t have to light the whole way for those around me. All I have to do is turn my candle on, and Jesus’ light will be right there to back me up. I simply must have the courage to believe in His light rather than relying on my own so that I never think that I have to do it all myself. It was a lesson I needed to hear, and one I’m eternally glad He sent me on a walk through the gift He gave me.
Reflections On Life edition by Staci Stallings Religion Spirituality eBooks
It's not very often you find someone who understands you, who truly gets you. It seems when I read anything by Staci Stallings, I find she knows exactly where I'm coming from (and where I need to be). I found this so true while reading Reflections on Life. This book is a collection of 52 short articles Stallings has written based on experiences and reflections from her life. What always amazes me is how so many of her stories either mirror a journey in my life or encourages me in my journey. Each and every one of the articles leave me with hope, faith and just that thought of "your not alone. God loves you."
I am sure this will be a book I will return to over and over again with different articles having a major impact on my life. This time around, an article called "Faith" just totally brought me to my knees. Although Stallings refers to a time in her life with her newborn daughter, the article related to me regarding my older children. What an impact!
Although I read Reflections in a matter of days, this book would be excellent for a devotional, a Bible Study or even a Women's Group. Every single article sent me on my own Reflection on Life.
Although I did receive a free copy of this book for an honest review, I have already gifted copies to my friends knowing it would change their lives!

Reflections On Life edition by Staci Stallings Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I really liked Staci Stallings' book, Reflections on Life. This little book packs a punch and is perfect for people with busy and hectic schedules. I found what she had to say and the examples of her life which she shared very relevant. She shares a lot of her own personal experiences in life and is so down to earth and refreshingly honest. The readings are short, yet powerful in the messages they deliver.
Staci applies several of her personal stories to Biblical passages making it easier to understand and utilize the information. Her generous sharing of personal struggles, real life examples and scenarios that anyone can relate to gives readers strength and encouragement to overcome their challenges. This book is calming, motivating and inspirational, and a perfect book to pick up every day for a quick read. I wouldn't hesitate to gift this book as a gift, and I would recommend it to anyone.
I was provided with a complimentary copy for my honest review.
Refreshing, simple truths to help you walk with Jesus a little closer. Be encouraged as you read Staci's reflections, many of which are testimonies of what has happened in her own walk & life with the Lord. This book has eight main sections with each section having a varying number of stories/personal reflections in it. In this review I have down my best to capture the main point of each devotion/separate reading.
1. On Living with Christ
Put your whole day in God's hands and let Him decide what He wants you to do * Who has God helped through you today? * Let the Holy Spirit take control * Performance or sacrifice? (Cain or Abel?) * Don't walk away from the Lord * Are you a Mary or a Martha? * Remain in Him * Seeing Jesus in others * Amazing Love * Treat others as you want to be treated * God's timing is perfect * See past the smoke to what/who is truly important in life * Take risks for Jesus * Don't be afraid to go out on a limb of faith. You may be surprised at the end results * Go to the Lord at any time * Let Jesus decide what is best for you * Make sure your faith is more important than your religion * Let Christ be the guide, not other people * Turn your candle on and Jesus' light will be right there to back you up * Be willing to accept the blessings God has for you.
2. On You
Practice, practice, practice * Let God live through you * If we do our best, Jesus will do the rest.
3. On Family
Loved, just because * Invite as many you can to Father's house * From childlessness to motherhood, Staci shares the story of the birth of her first daughter at 6 mths gestation. Being the mother of two premature babies (28 weeks & 32 weeks) I could SO relate to much of what Staci and her husband went through. * The realities of a day of rest (Sunday) as a mother (This one really had me smiling!) * Do not be afraid, He is with you.
4. On Others
Picking each other up * Pass your knowledge on. Don't keep God's blessing to yourself. * 5 steps of forgiveness * Life's too short to be bored * Say sorry when you have been wrong * Be real to people * Make sure you have all the facts (Ouch! This one really hit home. How many times do we judge on only one side of the story?!)
5. On Death
"You cannot buy more time." How are you using yours? * "The angels are always where they are supposed to be."
6. On Money
What does being rich mean for you? * Don't sell out Jesus!
7. On Lessons Learned
Peace - Asking God to make you happy
The Force and the Dark Side - In this fairly lengthy devotion, Staci discusses both the decision and actions of Anikan in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith contrasted by the actions of Jesus in Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ. Are you listening to Jesus or are you floundering in a pit trying to figure things out yourself?
Who you are should not be dependent on who you are with * Let go and let God * The importance of honesty and forgiveness.
8. On Words
Inspiration - the Holy Spirit working through you * Deconstructed from the original Latin, the word "decide means to cut off all other possibilities" (Wow! Just think how that not only impacts your eternal decision of trusting Jesus, or not, but also your everyday decisions.) Ready for another one? * Deconstructed from Spanish, desire means "of the Father." * A great acronym for LIGHT (You'll have to read the book too find out what it is!) * Enthusiasm
Did I enjoy this book? Yes! Well written, very down to earth, a great book to have on your shelf (or on your ).
Just so you know, I was given this book to review with the understanding that I would write an honest review. That is exactly what I have done. The comments are my own and I am not affiliated with the author in any way.
I give this book 5 stars because it is well written and very thought provoking. It also gives you help without being preachy, and is filled with common sense tips to help you in your spiritual growth. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for help on your spiritual journey. I have since purchased volumes 2 and 3. Thank you Ms Stallings for your help in my spiritual growth. You were the voice I was looking for.
This book is a collection of stories and reflections on situations the author found herself in. She uses scripture, her faith, and her past experiences to relate how she was made stronger and better by each experience, and "talks" to the reader about how they too can be encouraged through the difficulties in their journey. Each reflection is filled with so much power that I only read one each day. I was really blessed by this book.
This is a collection of thoughts and/or stories with a Christian theme. These are all just great thought, great passages. I've read through it and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I've also left it on my and just when I have a moment, I open it up and read.
I've often finished reading a passage or thought, and wonder why people don't live like that? Even in any religion, in any culture, if people lived with those thoughts of goodness and good will, we'd have no wars, no conflicts, no homeless, no hunger,......... Do unto others as you'd...... So simple, so complete. Why can't we?
